Sunday Best

I'm not a big fan of summer. Ok, there, I said it, so sue me. I just don't like being all sweaty and hot and stuff. However, I just checked out this viddy for Montreal designer Eve Gravel's Spring/Summer 2013 collection and I cannot wait for winter to be done with. Usually the layering of the fall season has me swooning, but I am all over the textures and the colours of Eve's upcoming release. If this is any indication of what we'll be seeing next year, then I can hardly wait!

I have to say, this is one of the best, easiest and prettiest decor projects I have seen in awhile. Vintage tea trays used as message boards is only one of many amazing finds on the design blog, Poppytalk. I would also highly recommend stopping by their home base, Poppytalk Handmade, an online curated market for arts and crafts. I am especially partial to these fun pillows by Evie Kemp.

Fall into Chevron

Thanksgiving is upon us fellow Canadians. If you are looking for a cute, but not corny (pun intended) project to tastefully bring you into the autumn season, look no further. Melaine Thompson at My Sweet Savannah shows us how to do an affordable and pretty fall chevron pumpkin. Let me know how yours turns out!

Paul & Joe Full Coverage Lipstick in Rouge

It took me a long time to write this post. Every time I tried to put fingers to keys, I ended up sounding like a complete moron. Maybe it's because I am so in love with and have a long, personal relationship with this brand that it makes it almost impossible to do it justice. You see, Paul & Joe has come in and out of my life at some pretty key moments and this red lipstick is currently helping me through a big transition. It may seem silly to attribute a beauty product to helping you through something, but if that's what it does, why fight it? Paul & Joe will make you feel like a 30s ingenue. It will inspire you with it's luxe, feminine packaging. And it will comfort you like a warm cup of tea. But all you really need to know, is that Paul & Joe is a pretty thing indeed.

Lindsi of people webs has great style and a great little shop that I fully intend on setting aside some of my next pay cheque for. Her outfits are super sweet and tend to involve some form of polka dots. I really don't think I need to remind you of Pretty Thing's obsession with polka dots. These outfits have me pining for summer again already. I guess I'll just have to cheer myself up with the perfect fall/winter accessory - a crochet bow headband in pumpkin from Lindsi's Etsy shop. Yes, that'll do it.

Industrial Pipe and Rope Shelf

I love a clever idea when I see one. I also hate them because it makes me wish I had come up with it. Usually the idea is so simple and obvious, it actually makes me want to puke a little. These shelves from DirtyBils prove my point. Industrial and contemporary all at once, they are one of the best re-purposed items I've seen in a long while. The best part is, they look like you just made use of some exposed piping in your home. So actually, you end up being the clever one.

Arrive Alive (And In Style)

Bobbin Birdie

Okay, so I know I'm probably going to make myself look like the biggest hipster ever by posting this, but I don't care - I love bicycles, especially vintage ones. But I also like new bikes that are inspired by vintage wheels. Take Bobbin Bicycles for instance. Each bike is a reinvention of the traditional English upright cycle and is full of charisma and personality. My personal fave is the Bobbin Birdie in bright yellow or mint green. Compatible with 50's sundresses and daydreams, it seems as though this bike was made for me. Now if only winter wasn't on it's way, I'd be set.

I love planning parties, and as such have become slightly obsessed with planning my wedding. While browsing one of my favourite wedding blogs, Ruffled, I was introduced to Michelle Edgemont. Michelle does handcrafted decorations, flowers and styling for weddings and boy, do they look good! I am especially fond of this fun table runner with lots of pops of red! She also crafts custom ring pillows seen here. Adorable.

Jane Aldridge, the girl behind Sea of Shoes, is one of the most influential style bloggers on the interwebs today. Not only does she tastefully put together gorgeous ensembles for all of us to see, but she is also a designer collaborating with the likes of Urban Outfitters and Gryphon. A fan of the colour red, she really should be featured on our Ruby Tuesday pages, but Jane has such great style we couldn't refuse her our Sunday Best.

I kept seeing wire baskets everywhere online, but wasn't sure where one could actually purchase these amazing vintage pieces. House Doctor, an online shop, appears to have just about any wire storage item you could ever want or need! Smaller baskets with handles to hold cosmetics or washroom essentials, larger ones for storing pretty quilts and blankets, and the list goes on and on. Too many to choose from actually. I might have to buy more than a few...

Paper Love

During a recent visit to my favourite local boutique, Leslie's I was given a copy of Issue No. 4 of the 5-piece-paper magazine. 5-piece-paper is created by the 5preview brand and words cannot describe how much I love all of the imagery in it. The first shoot in the magazine is my favourite. A rainbow of colours and a plethora of interesting objects can have you staring at the pages over and over again. Sized at approximately 14 x 10.5 ", the pages are also perfect for hanging around my apartment. Check out the current issue on 5preview's blog.

In honour of some upcoming Pretty Things nuptials, I am posting this gorgeous red inspired wedding photo. Shot by the fabulous Feather & Stone, this image of Letitia and Kristian is so cute it makes Elmo look like the Grouch. The handmade 50's inspired wedding dress is a stunner and if you hit up the full photo roll here, you'll notice the skirt actually has polka dots on it. Could it get any better?

Amanda Johnson of Making Nice in the Midwest is another one of those amazing women that I look up to for seemingly doing it all. She is a wedding photographer, blog designer, writes a personal blog, and has an interior design degree in tow. Phew! Her lovely lifestyle blog shares inspiration for just about everything, including the best vintage wardrobe ever! The yellow dress pictured above is to die for! She is currently expecting (so we can soon add Mom to the list too) and has the cutest maternity outfits as well!

Little Bow Peep

Birdwatcher  cotton chambray

Some folks out there like to think it's a man's world we live in. I am not one of those folks. In fact, I often partake in many activities associated with being a man like wielding an axe or fighting a bear for instance (okay, it was a stuffed bear, but he was tough). I've even been known to sport a tie or two here and there. Personally, I prefer the necktie and Pomp & Ceremony makes some fabulous ones in classic Liberty of London Prints. I personally own this one here and have worn it quite frequently, often with very flattering results.

If bow ties are more your thing though, might I suggest Forage. Handcrafted in deadstock fabric, these beauts are limited editions so if you see one you like, grab it before it's gone amigo. I'm pretty sure the bird bow tie above will be mine before it will be yours.

In an attempt to actually be excited about the impending season change, I thought I'd share a beautiful and cozy little outfit from Zara. This sweater could turn into one of those everyday items that goes with everything. I am obsessed with the detailing. And I haven't completely climbed on board with patterned trousers, but this pair might have me happily hopping on.

Part style blog, part personal diary, Natalie Off Duty covers the adventures of New York model Natalie Suarez. Her rocker chick vibe and affection for vintage have made her blog a must read for me. Interestingly enough, her candid behind the scenes shots from modelling gigs are some of the more the gorgeous images on her site. Take the last shot in this series posted last week - absolutely amazing.
