Ruby Tuesday

Welcome to our new weekly feature! Every Tuesday we will bring you our favourite ruby-related pretty things. It could be something coloured ruby red or something with ruby-like gems. Heck, it could even be someone named Ruby. Whatever it is, you'll find it here.

This week brings you an adorable outfit from Quebec designer Betina Lou. It's from her current Spring/Summer collection and gorgeously features the colour red. The whole collection is pretty stellar, but this ensemble is the perfect way to introduce your legs to Summer and to Ruby Tuesdays.

The Good Old Days

Searching through old family photos for an art project I am currently working on, I stumbled upon quite a few intriguing images. Many of the photos from the 1920's and 30's have a spooky, yet beautiful quality to them that I love. Both candid and staged, the images possess a haunting sensibility that just isn't found very often these days. Even supposed lighthearted images hold a certain seriousness and hardship in them that can't be disguised.

Glass Houses

When my mom was my age, terrariums were a pretty big fad and it seems things have come full circle again. Everywhere I look I am seeing unique and stylish interpretations of the terrarium. What is it about these little gems that seem to have people so enraptured? I for one think it might be the fact that within each tiny glass case is another world that you can escape to; an untold story that is different for every reader. Also, part of the appeal might be the ease of care. I've murdered many plants in my time and terrariums pretty much look after themselves.

Score and Solder  Quartz No. 3
Score and Solder, a BC company, makes gorgeous quartz and diamond shaped terrariums that I’ve been dying to get my hands on. The problem is I can’t decide! In the meantime, I think that making my own terrarium might be the way to go. A simple Google search revealed thousands of DIY tutorials. My favourite one so far is this recycled fixture tutorial from Design Sponge. However, I might start off smaller with a simple mason jar terrarium…and if that one lives, then I’ll move on to bigger and better things.

Tees Please

What do I possibly love more than art? Art on a t-shirt (and other things too)!

It Always Happens   Ju. Alvoas
18.00 USD
Danielle Hession, an artist from my previous post sent me a link to her shop on Society 6 and I am now completely taken by everything this site has to offer. Basically artists send images of their work to the site and then they can be purchased as prints, t-shirts, iPhone skins, and more. The artist pays no fees and retains all rights to the images submitted. Society 6 produces and ships the product and it’s as easy as that!

Purchasing these goodies is even easier. Click, pay, and prepare to wear your art on your sleeve.
