Living Pretty

I am currently fawning over these tables from birdloft. I have been lusting after a large wooden table for awhile now and I can definitely see these pieces finding a place (or several) in my apartment. They are completely gorgeous, from the hairpin legs to the reclaimed wood. Their process is really quite remarkable as well and super forest friendly. Birdloft typically salvages wood from old barns and industrial sites or from unfinished construction projects - saving it from the landfill. The wood is then harvested in a biodiesel-breathing truck and only locally produced oils and waxes are used to protect the wood. And when paint is used, you guessed it, it's 100% recycled. As my hometown is presently fighting off the invasion of a large landfill, businesses like birdloft make me smile.

To a Tee

We all have more old t-shirts than we know what to do with. So, why not make them into something useful. Even better than that, useful and amazing! I have found two crafty projects that I can't wait to make (or have someone make for me...). The first one featured on Refinery29, is a ridiculously rad woven t-shirt necklace. This project seems like a bit of persistance may be involved, but the results are definitely worth it and the material list is next to nil. If you're looking to step it up a notch, try letting an old logo or pattern show through. The second project can be found at delia creates. As plastic bags near extinction I find myself tiring of the usual canvas bag. This crochet inspired jersey bag looks like just the thing to take me to and from the market. Okay, so I don't really frequent any markets, but I'll have to start with a bag this creative. It's just dying to have fresh produce displayed in it. Off to the market we go! Back to the Future

These futuristic, geo earrings are definitely on my want list right now. I have been searching for fun and vibrant studs that won't overwhelm my tiny ears. Hash & Chez, a jewelry design and fabrication duo based in Los Angeles seems to have read my mind! With a large range of colours, from brights to pastels, as well as a myriad of geo patterns, there's a pair for every look. If you need another reason to justify this purchase (likely not), the products are all made from recycled or found objects!
