Living Pretty

Get ready to ditch the lampshades, because you won't want to keep these lovely bulbs a secret! I've been seeing a lot of beautiful metallic dipped items lately, but these definitely take the cake. Such a simple (and affordable) way to update your décor. While picking up a few of these bulbs from Schoolhouse Electric, I might just have to throw in this amazing, blue utility stool. These industrial pieces are the perfect thing to balance my sugary sweet art tooth.

Living Pretty

Pretty Things would like to introduce you to our brand new weekly feature, Living Pretty! We will be bringing you a wishlist of anything and everything that we want for our own home sweet homes. This week brings us My Favourite Colour, a surface design company started by fine artist, Frances White. Her first collection was launched this year, and is really a treat for the eye to see. Comprised of paintings and drawings, that are then scanned, digitally recomposed and printed on the fabric, the collection is full of beautiful and unique work all designed and made in South Africa.

Textile Style

Folk 3 - Graphite

Finding an interesting rug for your home is a fairly simple task. Finding an interesting and unique rug that one can afford is a different story. In walks Korhani, a Canadian decor company, who prides itself in quality and value. Bonus feel-good: their manufacturing facility based in Quebec adheres to strict environmental practices. Their retail textiles are cute, but what really gets me is the online collection. Boasting of collaborations with several big magazines, such as Style at Home and Elle Canada, Korhani is making quite a name for itself. I love the bunnies in the image shown so much! My personal favourite though is the one my lovely boyfriend just purchased for my birthday, which can be seen here. I wish I could have one for each room in my apartment! I have already chosen the Lottie-Cream for my dining room, and at $130 for the 79" x 104" size it may become a reality sooner rather than later.

Ruby Tuesday

Design Sponge recently did a beautiful post on the beautiful home of Paula Mills and her family. A mix of vintage and modern, the home is dainty and bold all at once. There are pops of red in almost every room, including a red kettle, stacked cans of tomatoes and a red velvet couch to name a few. This bright red door at the entry to the house really had me wanting to invite myself in though! What a wonderful way to bring a bit of the whimsy from the interior to the exterior of the home. I also must mention the illustrated decal you see by Shanna Murray is definitely the cherry on the top of this Ruby Tuesday.

Good Will Hunting

Glass Pitcher, $4.00
Decorating your own space is a chance to display your personality and your treasures, while creating a comfortable oasis from the outside world. While there is nothing better than shopping for décor items, it can be quite taxing on your bank account. Lately, to feed my desire for items around the home, and still keep my paycheque intact, I have been shopping at second hand shops, particularly the Good Will.
